Reid D. Holtzclaw-Swan, M.D.
Reid D. Holtzclaw-Swan, M.D. is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and a member of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Holtzclaw-Swan was born and raised in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 to pursue a career in medicine. During the journey, he became an Advanced Laboratory Technician and then an Independent Duty Submarine Corpsman. He served in the Submarine community for 9 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the George Washington University in 1988. He was commissioned in 1992 and received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1996. Dr. Holtzclaw-Swan completed his internship in Family Medicine at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, then proceeded to Flight School where he became a designated U.S. Naval Flight Surgeon. He served with the U.S. Marines and deployed to the Persian Gulf with them. He was also a Flight Surgeon for Training Airwing Six in Pensacola. Following his flight surgeon time, he proceeded to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland for his Internal Medicine residency. He stayed on as a Staff Internist for one year, then transferred to the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan where he served as Department Head for Internal Medicine. After three years, he transferred to the Naval Hospital in Bremerton and served there as a staff physician and Hospitalist until his retirement in 2012. Dr. Holtzclaw-Swan served 32 years in the Navy and travelled to every continent except Antarctica. Upon retiring, he accepted a position in the Franciscan Medical Group and practiced in Port Orchard for 7 years. He has been married to his beautiful wife Svetlana for 5 years and currently resides in Poulsbo.
